"The means to control this disease is easy and effective," said a local member of the Ministry of Health in Kampala, Uganda. "Campaigns are a benefit for the future - saving children's lives."

The results of measles campaigns have effects beyond percentages or lives saved. The trickle down effect of preventing measles is enormous. Measles wards become empty, making more room for children who suffer from the myriad of other health problems.

As fewer and fewer children suffer from measles, families can reduce the time they spend taking care of their sick children, and focus on the many other problems their families may face. Also, the money spent on healthcare can now go to other priorities.
