In only two weekends, nearly 1.4 million children were immunized, preventing over 15,000 deaths. In many cases, coverage exceeded 100%, due to children outside the target population wanting to be immunized, or the original estimated population being low. In Kumi district, for example, percent coverage topped the charts at 184.5% for the November campaign.

In early November 2001, the American Red Cross and other US-based coalitions supported the Uganda National Red Cross Society to lead efforts in five Ugandan districts to vaccinate 1.5 million children under five years of age for measles.
