The November 2003 vaccination campaign achieved 98.7 % coverage. In regions throughout the country, 783 vaccination posts were set up, and with the help of the Guinean and American Red Cross, as well as administrative authorities and the Department of Health, more than 3 million children between the ages of 9 months and 14 years were immunized against measles. This figure includes a great number of children who were located in hard to reach districts. The campaign in Guinea was also used as an opportunity to improve surveillance of the disease throughout the country, and to administer vitamin A to 1,450, 507 children between the ages of 6 months and five years.
